Join us Wednesday, April 16, 2025 in St. John the Baptist Church for the service of Tenebrae, which symbolically plays out the mystery of Christ's death and resurrection for us.
Tenebrae is Latin for darkness, and our Tenebrae service begins our journey with Christ into the depths of His Passion. The service begins in candlelight and includes readings that tell the story of Jesus’ last days before His crucifixion. After each reading, a candle is extinguished, until the last candle is carried out and the church is in darkness. We begin to understand what it was like for Mary and the Apostles in the days after Jesus was put to death.
