As Catholics, we take very serviously the safety of our children and community members. In order to keep them safe, we take our best efforts to raise awareness and prevent the abuse of children, adolescents, and vulnerable adults.
That's why we follow the Archdiocese of Cincinnati's Decree on Child Protection. This Decree exists to provide education surrounding abuse in order to prevent any cases of occuring. Should an abuse occur, the Decree provides a system for handling these incidents. This Decree is enforced in every Archdiocesan parish and, in particular, every ministry at St. John the Baptist.
"This Decree seeks to protect, enchance and, in some cases, restore the trust that our faith calls for between the agents of the Church and the children, adolescents, and vulnerable adults entrusted to their care."
- Archbishop Schnurr, Decree of Child Protection, pg. i
